About
I teach Latin and music at a Catholic school in northern Virginia, and direct the chapel choir there. By training I am a classicist — a BA from the University of Mary Washington, then an MA from the University of Kentucky. Most of what I care about lives somewhere in that overlap — old languages, sacred music, the liturgy, and the long conversation between them that has been going on for a very long time.
This site is where I keep notes on that conversation: things I am reading, psalms I am sitting with, the occasional argument worked out at length. I write here for the same reason anyone keeps a commonplace book — because a thing held in the hand and turned over is better understood than a thing merely passed by.
If something here is useful to you, take it. If you would like to write, you can reach me by email.
