emacs-bcp
The Daily Office, prayed at the same desk where everything else happens. emacs-bcp assembles the day’s office inside Emacs — calendar, lectionary, psalms, lessons, and prayers gathered for the date into a clean reading buffer, so the office is one keystroke away from the work it interrupts.
What it knows how to do:
- The Prayer Book office under the 1662 rubrics, with its proper calendar and lectionary.
- The Roman Breviary alongside, for the hours the Prayer Book condensed.
- A choice of psalters: Coverdale, Tate & Brady’s metrical, the Vulgate, and a Classical Japanese (文語訳) psalter.
- Lessons from the King James (with Apocrypha) or the Vulgate.
- Hymns from the Hymnal 1940.
- All of it configured from a settings menu (
M-x bcp-settings) — no elisp required of the user.
